Dutch Design Week aims to show the latest developments in the field of design in a stimulating and inspiring way by means of a dynamic and diverse selection of events, exhibitions and lectures. In addition, workshops and symposiums are organized for professional audiences. The exhibition is on view in the Witte Dame, in the centre of Eindhoven. There are also numerous other museums, galleries and cultural institutes that present art and design exhibitions and organize lectures. This years theme is "The power of creativity". The creative industry is getting more and more important. It is DDW's ambition to join this national development and to draw up a programme in which optimum attention is paid to the impact of creativity on society. Creativity in art & literature Most people associate creativity with the fields of art and literature. In these fields, originality is considered to be a sufficient condition for creativity. Within the different modes of artistic expression, one can postulate a continuum extending from "interpretation" to "innovation". Established artistic movements and genres pull practitioners to the "interpretation" end of the scale, whereas original thinkers strive towards the "innovation" pole. Note that we conventionally expect some "creative" people to perform while allowing others more freedom to express the new and the different.
