Double Q win for Coldplay

Coldplay have picked up two prizes at the Q Awards in London. The band won the awards for best album for Viva La Vida or Death To All Their Friends and best act in the world today. Duffy, who was up for two gongs, won best breakthrough, while Keane won best track for song Spiralling. Other stars who were honoured at the event included Grace Jones, Glen Campbell, Kaiser Chiefs, The Cocteau Twins, David Gilmour and Meat Loaf, who was presented with the classic song award for Bat Out Of Hell. The singer turned up sporting a cut eye and looking unwell, claiming to be suffering from vertigo. He left the ceremony immediately after picking up his award from comedian Al Murray. The Last Shadow Puppets, a side project of Arctic Monkey Alex Turner, was named Best New Act. Newcomers The Ting Tings, who were nominated for three awards, left the ceremony empty-handed. The winners were chosen by readers of the music magazine.
