Discharging a CRT (or trying to)

Hey viewers. Me and the rest of my computer repair class were attempting to discharge this CRT monitor. We were using a computer repair manual instructions on how to do it, but it didnt work. If you have ever discharged a monitor and gotten a result, please tell me if i am doing anything wrong. Please dont go and try this however unless you know what you are doing. As you can see, everyone in this video is wearing proper safty goggles to protect their eyes and we also knew all the precautions. CRT monitors can hold a charge up to 2,500 volts, which is enough to kill you. thanks Bryan
