Disabled athlete Shaho Qadir given Lewisham Citizenship Award

A Kurdish athlete who, as a child, lost both his legs in a war-time bombing is being given a Lewisham 'citizenship' award today for helping to train the borough's disabled children. Shaho Qadir was only thirteen when he was injured in an Iraqi war-plane attack. Now 31, he lives here in London and hopes to compete in the Beijing Paralympics in 2008.
