Two people have been killed after the light aircraft they were in crashed into a major railway line in Staffordshire. The single engine propeller aircraft came down after hitting power lines above the track near Colwich Junction, between Rugeley and Stafford, above the West Coast Mainline shortly before midday. Emergency services were deluged with 999 calls after the crash, in a field off Meadow Lane, Little Haywood. Rail travellers are facing long delays as services were suspended following the crash. At London's Euston station passengers faced severe delays across many services to the Midlands and the North West. "I was on the 13.22 to Glasgow central and about to leave when we were asked to get off the train because of an accident," Hazel Salim, 67, from Kirkham said. "Since then I've been given lots of conflicting information. At first we were sent to King's Cross and told to take a train to Sheffield but when we arrived they sent us back, so now we're waiting at Euston. It's misery and I don't know when I'll get back." Kate Kay, 60, from Wigan, saw the funny side: "I recently just turned 60 and only took the train because I got the cheap pass, I really wish I hadn't bothered now. "I've no idea when I'm going to get back, it's like travel hell." However, Michael Downes, 44, from Warrington was not laughing: "I was supposed to be home with my family by now - instead I'm stuck here and don't know how long before I get back. "I know it's an accident, it's nobody's fault, but where's the help? "Yes, I think they could be doing more for us, a free coffee or sandwich would be nice round about now."
