The icons of the eighties Depeche Mode have announced details of the European leg of their world tour. Around 1,000 fans were invited to a news conference which saw singer Dave Gahan, Martin Gore and Andrew Fletcher announce the dates for their first tour since 2006. The so-called "Tour of the Universe 2009" has been long awaited by fans who will now finally be able to purchase tickets in the pre-sale. The tour will include 28 cities in 28 countries across the globe. Gahan said: "You can expect a lot of songs that I hope you have grown to love as much as we have and some new songs as well, hopefully from the new album." The band will play the Olympic Stadium in Berlin on June 10, 2009. Other cities in Germany include Hamburg, Frankfurt and Munich. Their only UK date will be London's O2 Arena on May 30. Depeche Mode have sold more that 100 million records and are currently working on their 12th album.
