DEFENCE: Sergeant Steve Roberts death: Inquest blames lack of body armour

The coroner investigating the death of British tank commander Steve Roberts has said that he died because of an 'unforgivable and inexcusable' delay in providing body armour to front-line troops: Sgt Roberts was shot and killed by his own side as he was caught up in an Iraqi attack, near the southern city of Az Zubayr in March 2003. His widow Sam Roberts said the verdict, and the changes in military procedure, would be her husband's legacy. The Conservatives have called for the resignation of the then Defence Secretary Geoff Hoon.
