DEFENCE: Des Browne defends Afghanistan troop deployment

The Defence Secretary Des Browne was forced to defend both the decision to send more troops to Afghanistan, and the resources they have to fight with. He said the dangers are worth facing. 17 British troops have been killed since their latest deployment in February. Add to that the 14 personnel who died in an RAF Nimrod plane crash, the total is 31 deaths in just the past seven months.
