An Old Bailey judge has sentenced a woman to 8 years in prison for trying to organise a murder. The court heard how 50-year-old Carol Ann Hunter, a business executive from west London, plotted with new partner Anton Lee to hire a hitman to kill her former boyfriend, Colin Love. Love had left her and their two children after 22 years for someone he had met through the website 'Friends Reunited'. After he moved his new girlfriend into the home she had paid for and sought a share of her assets, Hunter decided to kill the couple, later modifying her commission to the maiming or injury of Love's new partner. Because a friend had informed the police, the hitman the couple tried to hire for ten thousand pounds was actually an undercover officer. The judge said the crime was 'breathtaking in both its audacity and in coldness' and told Hunter she was 'capable of manipulation and callousness of the highest order'.
