CRIME: Metropolitan Police commissioner and Mayor in Bexleyheath

Metropolitan Police Commissioner Sir Ian Blair has visited Bexleyheath with Mayor of London Ken Livingstone. The visit, which follows the death of East London teenager Adam Regis, the fifth teenager to be murdered in six weeks, was due to publicise the extension of the Police Community Support Officers' scheme to London's buses. The men in charge of preventing crime in London were asked to allay Londoners' fears about increases in recent knife crime and gun crime incidents on the streets.
