London Tonight has obtained exclusive figures from the capital's leading A&E department - and they show just how serious a problem London faces with gun and knife crime. The Royal London in Whitechapel dealt with a 43 per cent increase in the number of stab and gunshot wounds in 2006 - up then, by almost a half in one year. In those 12 months, knives and guns accounted for a quarter of all the injuries the doctors and nurses there had to deal with. And despite the police's insistence that things are getting better on the streets - those on the frontline bear witness to the opposite. London Tonight convinced two members of one of London's most notorious gangs the Peckham Boys, to speak on camera. They share their life experiences, their hardships, and they try to answer the toughest question of all - why.
