CRICKET: England v Pakistan Test match: Row over ball tampering

England's Test match against Pakistan at The Oval was dramatically abandoned this afternoon when Pakistan refused to return to the field after being accused of cheating. Umpires Darrell Hair and Billy Doctrove ruled that someone in the Pakistan fielding side had been tampering with the ball - and ordered it changed. For the first time ever in Test cricket, the umpires also awarded England five extra penalty runs. After a delay for bad light over tea - the Pakistan team refused to return to the field and the umpires appeared to call it off. Pakistan did eventually return after 45 minutes - only for the umpires to refuse to take part. Play had to be abandoned for the day. It's still not clear whether or not the game will resume tomorrow.
