Sir Paul McCartney and his soon to be ex-wife Heather Mills, arrived at court separately to strike a deal in their divorce battle.Ms Mills arrived first at the Royal Courts of Justice in central London but was shielded from waiting photographers by a blanket covering her head.Sir Paul arrived a few minutes later and used the judges' entrance to avoid the media.The pair will hammer out details of their split at the hearing, a deal which is expected to be one of the most costly in British legal history.The Beatles star and former model insisted their parting was amicable when they first announced their split in 2006, but the relationship soon turned sour, with subsequent spats in court between the couple and public statements from Ms Mills making headlines.Previous reports suggested that Sir Paul had offered Ms Mills £20 million but that she was holding out for a figure closer to £50 million.The deal is expected to set a record and outstrip the £48 million insurance broker John Charman, 53, was ordered to pay his former wife Beverley in May this year in the biggest contested divorce settlement to date.Sir Paul, who is worth an estimated £825 million, and Ms Mills, have a three-year-old daughter, Beatrice together.© Independent Television News Limited 2007.
