Originally home to the Taino and Lucayan Indians who inhabited this area centuries ago, the Turks and Caicos islands have come a long way from their tribal days. Claimed by many over the years, including France, Spain and Bermuda, it wasn't until the early 1960s that Turks and Caicos was established as part of the British Crown Colony. Still under British rule today, the islands have developed into a popular hotspot for vacationers from around the world. www.voyage.tv
