A day in a coffee shop becomes a comic, charming, bitter-sweet journey through 25 years of psychotherapy. Darnell Shacklebee, proprietor of Escape the Daily Grind, gets slammed one Saturday when there's a psychotherapist convention in town. All of his former therapists pop in for coffee, triggering a trip down memory lane. The trip includes decades of therapy, family conflict, relationship problems, and misdiagnoses. This project was made possible through the support of the North Carolina Arts Council, a state agency, the Blumenthal Endowment, and the arts councils in Cabarrus, Cleveland, Gaston, Iredell, Lincoln, Mecklenburg, Rowan, Rutherford, and York (SC) counties.
