Child workers study for change

Children make up a substantial proportion of Guatemala's workforce both in rural and urban areas. In Guatemala City thousands of children sell their wares within the alleys and pathways of the sprawling Mercado Terminal. PENNAT, (Programa Educativo del Nino, Nina y Adolescente Trabajador), an education program for child and adolescent workers has established a school within the market with the hope of changes the fate of these young, vulnerable people. Reuters correspondent, Michelle Carlile-Alkhouri filed this report from Guatemala City.
