
(NECN: Boston, Mass.) - A key legislative committee has rejected Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick's plan to build three resort-style casinos in the Bay State -- all but dooming the bill. The 10-8 vote by the Joint Committee on Economic Development makes way for a vote in the House as soon as Thursday. If the bill is defeated then, it couldn't be brought back until next year.
