She can't take it when he won't tell her why he's been disappearing into the night. She confronts him telling him that if he's strong enough to not tell her about it, why not exclude her from it all together and she'll watch him go alone. As the time passes Hermione was told by Lucius's slip of the tongue that Draco had received the Dark Mark and she can't believe him. Of course when school time comes around again Hermione takes him aside and notices his wince when she grabbed his left fore-arm. She doesn't want to believe Lucius to be true but she cannot deny that he was not lying. Hermione then left him to gather her thoughts. Over the next couple months she notices him struggling but won't help him. Draco tries to tell her his absense is only temporary and she tries to believe him but she can't bring herself to. If he couldn't even be bothered to tell her about his future and his plans why should she go along the ride with him. she knows the pain will be temporary but she can't help but wonder how it would have been if he would have let her inside.
