Carl Cameron interviews John McCain "Happening Now" 12:35pm Interview TRANSCRIPTION CARL CAMERON: Well, we talked about a variety of things. He talked about his feelings about Rev. Jeremiah Wright and why he didnt raise Sen. Obamas former pastor in last nights debate. Talked about why he thinks that ACORN and Bill Ayers, the former 60s radical, are relevant to Barack Obama and he reiterated his belief that Barack Obama has not come clean on it. Talked a lot about the economy. Sen. McCain disagrees with Bush. President Bush is reluctant to extend unemployment benefits for those hurting right now. Sen. McCain says it would be an appropriate thing to do. And, he talked at great length about those rallies . . . Pennsylvanias a place where some of his crowds have been particularly agitated and angry and expressed that to him. And thats caused some in the mainstream media to suggest that theres a racial overtone . . . to some of McCains town hall meetings and rallies. He is not at all happy about that and says its a real smear . . . JOHN MCCAIN: Thats the most you know, probably of all the things thatve been said, thats really one of the really low blows. Look, thousands and thousands of people come, theyre veterans, I was thrilled the other day to see a group of young women there with a sign that said military wives for McCain. I see the guys with their hats on from every war. I see young people there. Theres a, theres always a few people that are going to show up at a political rally thatll say things and yell things and abuse their free speech rights. But to somehow say that our rallies are inciting anything but excitement and passion and support for our campaign is just the worst kind of slander. CAMERON: Sen.
