Hello on this Thursday, May 24, 2007. I'm Kristin Volk with a UPI Headline Update. The U.S. military has identified a body floating in Iraq's Euphrates River as a missing American soldiers. Twenty year old Joseph Anzack Jr. of Torrance, California was one of three soldiers seized in an ambush earlier this month. The search for the other two men continues. Iraqi police officers say Anzack had bullet wounds and showed possible signs of torture. Militants who are fighting government troops in northern Lebanon are vowing not to surrender. A leader of the extremist group Fatah al-Islam say troops will not enter the Palestinian refugee camp except over their dead bodies. Thousands of the camp's residents used a cease-fire to flee yesterday. Those who left reported that Fatah al-Islam members in the camp were planning to fight and wore explosive belts. The remaining residents who couldn't escape are believed to be inside with no power and water. Israel has arrested thirty-three senior Hamas members during overnight raids in the West Bank. The organization's education minister, mayors, members of parliament and senior activists are being held for questioning. The Palestinian information minister issued a statement condemning the arrests and calling them a massacre to Palestinian democracy. Hamas militants have launched hundreds of Qassam rockets into Israel from Gaza in recent weeks. The U.S. Senate has voted to reduce the number of guest workers allowed in the country. Senators cut the number of guest workers that would be allowed in by half, from 400 thousand to 200 thousand. The decision comes under a controversial immigration overhaul supported by the White House. The immigration bill is the result of a deal struck after nearly three months of bipartisan talks. That's all for now. Be sure to check out our new special segment called, Suited for Job, on upi.com. It's a story about an organization that helps women get back into the workforce in unique ways.
