Beckham surfs away with another award

David Beckham has picked up an award for Choice Male Athlete at the tenth annual Teen Choice Awards in Los Angeles. The LA Galaxy star, a regular on the awards ceremonies circuit in the US this summer, collected his surfboard trophy after pipping Tiger Woods to the gong. The blue carpet was swarming with celebrities for proceedings, with teen icon Miley Cyrus taking on hosting duties and performing with her dance crew. The Hannah Montana superstar, who herself won three awards, was lavished with praise from fellow A-listers, including R&B hotshot, Chris Brown, who said: "Miley is hosting, I am rooting for her but she is battling my dance crew." Brown accepted five music awards - choice music male artist, R&B artist, R&B track, rap/hip-hop track and music hook-up for his Jordin Sparks duet No Air. However, he lost his dance-off with Cyrus. Big winners of the night were TV show Gossip Girl, a teen drama about an group of ostentatious prep-school students, which left with six surfboards. Will Smith stopped by to scoop up three trophies, which were selected by over 30 million votes cast online - one for Hancock and two for I Am Legend.
