Beckett helps Red Sox end slide

Josh Beckett became the first 20-game winner in the majors since 2005, pitching Boston over Tampa Bay 8-1. The Red Sox got late home runs from Jason Varitek, David Ortiz and Mike Lowell and snapped a four-game losing streak. Boston leads the AL East by two and a-half games over the Yankees. Boston's magic number to clinch at least a wild-card spot is two. The loss went to Scott Kazmir.
