
(NECN) - Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick and Attorney General Martha Coakley attended a rally with youth workers at the State House on Monday to kick off National Youth Violence Prevention Week. The programs are aimed at battling substance abuse, creating jobs and improving other opportunities for young people across the state in hopes of curbing violence. House and Senate lawmakers are working to pull together their versions of the state budget. The state is facing an estimated $1.3 billion funding shortfall for the new fiscal year.
