Actor Christian Bale has been speaking about his furious, foul-mouthed rant on the set of Terminator Salvation. The Batman star, 35, faced a barrage of criticism when a recording of his four-minute tirade - which contained more than 40 F-words - was leaked onto the internet in February. He said: "There is really nothing I can say about that that I haven't said already you know. I haven't tried to make any excuses for it. It was unacceptable. I take it as my fault and that's it." The screaming began when a director of photography checking one of his lights apparently crossed into Bale's line of sight during filming last July. In the internet clip, the actor is heard repeatedly swearing, angrily berating the crew member and questioning his professionalism. But Bale's co-stars are rallying around him, insisting raw emotions are never far from the surface during filming. Bryce Dallas Howard - who plays Kate Connor, the wife of Bale's character John in the fourth Terminator movie - said: "It's terrible for all of us that that tape was released. "When you are working on a set it's a creative experience and you need a certain amount of protection and safety." She added: "When you are filming a really intense scene and the weather is crazy, and you haven't slept for 48 hours, people are raw. I think Christian dealt with it with such integrity." The film's director, Mc G, said: "He is very honest and I think the world can benefit from more people like that. He is a fundamentally good person I am happy to report. "That is the truth. It may not be sexy and a saucy answer but the simple fact is Bale is a good guy and he means business." Co-star Sam Worthington has also come to Bale's defence. "To work with him elevates your game as a person," he said. "He is the supreme professional. That is what it is. He comes in, does his job, goes home to his kids. The proof is in the pudding - look at his career." Terminator Salvation opens in UK cinemas on June 3.
