Is God perfect, or is God holy? Azrael Ondi-Ahman examines the man-made Christian doctrine of perfection and its consequences. He states that a 'perfect' God would be void of compassion and mercy, and thus incapable of understanding and forgiveness. God describes him/herself as holy -- not perfect. Imperfection is necessary for holiness to exist. Imperfection gives birth to wisdom and compassion. Christ wasn't perfect -- he was holy. Azrael discusses the underpinnings of the 'Perfect Christ' and how theologians of the early church needed to create this doctrine in order to separate Christ from the rest of mankind, remove him from the taint of original sin, and establish the doctrine of blood atonement.
