As part of the scheme, 5.3 billion U.S. dollars will go into renewable energy projects from the carbon tax in Australia. Pkg: From July, 2012, 500 of Australia's biggest polluters will have to start paying a tax of 24 dollars a tone on their own carbon emissions. The tax is designed to take from Australia's highest emitting carbon polluters and reallocate money into the renewable energy sector. As the representation of solar energy producers, the Australian Solar Energy Society stands heavily to benefit under the scheme.
