Keira Knightley will be hoping to follow in the footsteps of Dame Helen Mirren by scooping a Best Actress gong at next month's Baftas.And James McAvoy, Keira's co-star in the British film, Atonement, will be hoping to make it a double after receiving a nod in the Best Actor category.The film is up for awards in seven top categories including Best Film, where it will go up against American Gangster, The Lives of Others, There Will Be Blood and No Country for Old Men.In the Best Actress category Keira is up against Julie Christie - who won a Golden Globe winner for her role in Away From Her - as well as Marion Cotillard (La Vie en Rose), Ellen Page (Juno) and Cate Blanchett, in the reprise of her role as monarch in Elizabeth: The Golden AgeCate also received a nomination in the Best Supporting Actress category for I'm Not There.The Best Actor category also features George Clooney, (Michael Clayton), Daniel Day-Lewis (There Will Be Blood), Viggo Mortensen (Eastern Promises) and Ulrich Muhe (The Lives of Others).There is also an award for Best British Film. The five nominees are Atonement, The Bourne Ultimatum, Control, Eastern Promises and This is England.In the Director's category, the five nominees are Atonement's Joe Wright, Paul Greengrass, who directed box office smash The Bourne Ultimatum, Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck (The Lives of Others) and the Coen brothers - Joel and Ethan - who directed No Country for Old Men.The awards will be held at the Royal Opera House in London's Covent Garden on February 10.© Independent Television News Limited 2008.
