As D444 'Exeter' Enters, 50049 'Defiance' is Withdrawn (Saturday 18.10.08)

Saturday 18th October 2008 was a very important day for Two Class 50 members. For the first time since 1999, D444 (50044) 'Exeter' hauled her first revenue earning service on the National Rail Network. D444 wasn't allowed to roam free straight away though; Fellow Class mate, 50049 (D449) 'Defiance', double headed with Exeter, on what was to be 49's final railtour before a bogie and wheelset overhaul. We see the train made up of the two 'Hoovers', Mark 2s in Blue/Grey and Class 57 57601 on the Rear at Ponthir at 09:00 and later at Severn Tunnel Jcn around 19:40. After the shot at Ponthir we tried to beat the 50s to Magor footbridge, but as we arrived we could see the 57 fading away - a minute earlier and you would of had an extra (daylight!) shot, never mind eh! This video is dedicated to my friend, Zachary Prior, a lover of 50s (50031mad)
