Are Tablet Computers (like iPad) a Fad?

They are certainly more powerful than my first computer. The tablet market is heating up right now, but in order for Apple's competitors to stay in the market with any success, manufacturers need to innovate and create a cohesive user experience. Competition would be very healthy for the tablet market in the long run.
