APOLO OHNO: Salvation Army Fundraiser in San Diego (Part 3)

The money raised goes towards funding activities provided by the Salvation Army's Kroc Center so that every child and family can participate in various programs and sports without regards to income levels. Personal observation: arriving fashionably late, I noticed that many other guests whom had reserved tables did not make it to this event, for whatever reason, thus there were a few empty tables. Their names with table numbers were evident at the check-in area. Otherwise, it would have been a full house. APOLO ANTON OHNO HAS BECOME THE NEW 2008 WORLD CHAMPION! Truly a global King of the Ice --- GO APOLO, GO USA! Normally, the Koreans dominate this title but this year Apolo would have none of it as he reclaimed the throne and placed the USA on top! Apolo's individual wins: 500m Finals (Gold Medal) 1,000m Finals (Silver Medal) 3,000m super Final (Bronze Medal) World Championships (March 7-9), South Korea, Short Track Speedskating season-ender showdown against top international contenders. As Apolo raced among some newer world class athletes & other notably worthy opponents - the competitions were filled with tension, excitement & an overwhelming eagerness to become the next 2008 World Champion. USA FTW!
