N. Verma. At the age thirteen, she became a disciple of Pandit Shri Bimalendu Mukherjee, a doyen of the famous ‘Imdadkhani Gharana' which is renowned for its fluency, vigor, grace and the “Gayaki” style. Anupama has truly imbibed the vigor that is a hallmark of her Gharana: scintillating fast taans , as well as mastery of the meditative alaap , with brilliant fluency of melody ( raag bhava ) while maintaining her technical virtuosity. She has performed at prestigious festivals such as Ustad Amir Khan Smriti Samaroh, Karavali Utsav, Swami Haridas Samaroh, Sangeet Research Accademy (Kolkata), Lotus World Music Festival (USA), MIT Fall Concert Series (USA), Ustad Thirakhva Khan Smriti Samaroh (Mumbai) to name a few. Anupama has received several honors during her brilliant music career such as a title of Surmani, by Sur Sringar Sansad, Bombay (1995), First position in the All India Radio Music Competition (1994). She has appeared on Indian radio and TV as well as TV appearances in USA.
