Tens of thousands of people have hurled truckloads of tomatoes at each other in Spain as part of an annual food fight.Municipal trucks dumped about 110 tons of tomatoes at the feet of adrenaline-charged crowds in the town square in Bunol.Within minutes the area was covered in red juice, for what is said to be the world's largest tomato fight.Up to 40,000 people took part in the event, entitled Tomatina.Local folklore says the contest began with a food fight that broke out between youngsters near a vegetable stand in the town in the mid-1940s.From there the battle grew into an annual event.© Independent Television News Limited 2007.
