Animal testing replacement
The Scientific Advisory Committee of the European Centre for the Validation of Alternative Methods (ECVAM), part of the European Commission's Joint Research Centre, will announce on 27/04/2007 the validation of new in-vitro tests, which could eliminate the practice of using rabbits for skin and eye irritancy testing. To illustrate this, the European Commission's Audiovisual Service is preparing an info-clip which will include footage of the following: - Institute for Health and Consumer Protection, Validation of Biomedical Testing Methods, Ispra (Italy) - Carcinogenicity laboratory (in vitro test).
