Some of Mahatma Gandhi's most personal possessions, among them his iconic spectacles, which he once said gave him "the vision to free India", are to be sold at an auction in New York next week. Residents of Mahatma Gandhi's hometown of Porabandar in India's western Gujarat strongly oppose the sale. The objects are widely seen as part of Indian heritage.
