This is my niece playing with her dad and just generally being the cute and happy baby she always is. She is trying to copy her dad whistling but hasn't quite grasped the concept yet! When Alishba was first diagnosed, the doctors told us that she would suffer from mental retardation and I'm pleased to say that they were sadly mistaken! She picks new things up on a daily basis and is proof positive that Osteopetrosis can affect individuals in very different ways. Right now, she is doing brilliantly but if we do not find a perfect bone marrow donor, Alishba will start to lose her ability to see, speak, move, breathe and live. This baby has so much life and soul that I cannot think of anything worse than to watch her slowly deteriorate and to eventually lose her. Please spread the word and encourage those close to you to do the same. My niece needs your help and YOU could well be the person to save her.
