Alexandra Burke and Cheryl Cole are going head to head for Best Single at the Brit Awards next month, but Burke insists that there is no rivalry between them. "It's not about competition. It simply is what it is. You're nominated for a Brit and I think that alone is something to be proud of," the singer said. Cheryl famously mentored Alexandra during her time on the X Factor, eventually leading her to victory. Despite her denial of any rivalry, the Bad Boys star admitted to feeling elated when she found out that she had been nominated. She added: "When I found out I was over the moon. I'm a British girl and I've always watched the Brits." Burke also faces X Factor's Olly Murs in the race for Best Single. The South Londoner is currently working across the Atlantic, as she develops her second album and has spoken about collaborations with major US stars, but will not reveal any of their names.
