Africans celebrate Human Rights Day

These celebrations have their roots in a bloody past... March 1960, South Africa's black majority rise up against the apartheid government's inhuman pass law; a system in which all black people here are forced to carry a permit which controls and confines their movement. The protest ends in a massacre at Sharpeville, outside Johannesburg. Some 69 people killed and scores more injured.
