British paratroopers have reported that the Army bought inferior replacement ammunition rounds for their machine guns. This made them difficult to fire in the heat of battle put the lives of paratroopers in danger. This follows recent events, accepted by the Ministry of Defence, that troops ran out of bullets while fighting the Taliban and had to borrow ammunition from American and Canadian forces
