A large explosion occurred at an ammunition shop in the Afghan capital on Wednesday (March 14), destroying surrounding shops and killing several people, Afghan officials said. Interior Ministry spokesman Bashari Zarmai said that there had been a number of casualties, although exact numbers were not yet known. "I was in my room inside this market suddenly i heard the bang, I walked out and i saw some causality i don't really know what caused the blast, the gunpowder shops are a way or it might be a bomb or something else but i am not sure." said Wakeel Ahmed an eyewitness. Residents had earlier said the blast was caused by a suicide attack on an Afghan army patrol. Last year was the bloodiest since the Taliban was ousted from power in 2001, the city was rocked by several suicide attacks that killed dozens. The Taliban have said they will step up suicide attacks across the country this year.
