Rock met Hip Hop as the likes of Grandmaster Flash were welcomed into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in New York.A wise-cracking Keith Richards took to the stage to welcome the acts to be inducted.Hip-Hop heavy weight Jay-Z was also on hand to give out the honours and Grandmaster took his opportunity on stage to explain how much rock music influenced him."Rock and Roll plays a huge, huge part in what we do," he said.Van Halen also got the nod but were missing lead singer David Lee Roth - who had apparently fallen out with the band - and guitarist Eddie Van Halen who was in rehab.R.E.M performed their classic 'man on the moon' and Patti Smith and the classic 60s band The Ronnettes, famous for their track Be My Baby, were also inducted.© Independent Television News Limited 2007.
