How does a government lead its people to war? The film LEADING TO WAR shows the United States government making the case for war in Iraq. The film is comprised entirely of archival news footage – without commentary, without voiceover – beginning with President Bush’s State of the Union speech in January, 2002 (the ‘axis of evil’ speech), to the announcement of formal US military action in Iraq on March 19, 2003. Spanning these 14 months, we hear selected interviews, speeches, informal remarks, and press conferences by President Bush and his administration, aswell as from British Prime Minister Tony Blair.
