It was the ship that led to the creation of an entire movement. And that movement ended slavery. Today - a replica of The Zong made it's way up the Thames - marking the two hundredth anniversary of the end of the Slave Trade Act. The original was at the centre of an infamous court case when a hundred and thirty three slaves were thrown overboard and drowned. The Captain did it - planning to claim on insurance for the loss of his cargo. The public outrage that followed led to the start of the abolition movement.
