The main opposition and Kurdish parties have boycotted parliament's swearing-in, raising concerns of political tensions and a surge of separatist violence. PKG For the prime minister, it's not an easy start. Despite a victory at polling stations, Tayyip Erdogan started his third term on Tuesday when the main opposition party and minority Kurds boycotted parliament's swearing-in. It means more than 30 percent of elected lawmakers have refused to take their oath and therefore, they cannot take part in parliamentary work. The main opposition Republican People's Party and the pro-Kurdish Peace and Democracy Party said they boycotted the ceremony because some of their elected members are in jail and have been barred from taking their seats.
