Angela Sharkey, a pediatric cardiologist, discusses the ability of the cardiology team at St. Louis Children’s Hospital (www.StLouisChildrens.org) to determine a fetal heart abnormality as early as twenty weeks of gestation, or roughly half way through the pregnancy. The prenatal diagnosis gives families and obstetricians more preparation time when the baby arrives. She also discusses the additional support that the hospital is able to provide to cardiology patients through various types of therapy. http://www.stlouischildrens.org/content/medservices/FetalHeartCenter.htm
