
HANOVER, N.H. (AP) - Faced with a sharp decline in its endowment, Dartmouth College is laying off 60 workers and cutting its budget by $72 million over the next two years. College President James Wright says tenured and tenure-track faculty won't be laid off. He says the plan, which has been endorsed by the school's board of trustees, will allow Dartmouth to preserve the excellence of its academic programs while maintaining its commitment to financial aid for students.
