50 Cent slammed over 'violent' posters

Rapper 50 Cent is facing fierce criticism over the posters for his latest film, which have been accused of promoting gun violence in the US. The billboards show 50 Cent, real name Curtis Jackson, holding a gun in one hand and a microphone in the other. Activists have demanded that the posters, advertising the film Get Rich or Die Tryin', are taken down because they glorify crime. Najee Ali, who organised a protest in Los Angeles, accused Paramount Pictures of irresponsibility for marketing in high-crime areas. 'We're calling upon Paramount Pictures to remove these billboards out of our neighbourhood and from this city,' he said. Get Rich or Die Tryin' mirrors the star's own life. 50 Cent stars as a drug dealer who turns away from crime to pursue a career in rap music. The title is taken from his first album, released in 2002.
