October 5, 2010 - In the US today, more than 8 million businesses are owned by women. That's 28.2 percent of all firms in the country. While women-owned businesses are responsible for 23 million jobs and a significant amount of revenue (almost equal to the entire GDP of Germany), these businesses account for only about four percent of all revenues generated in the U.S, according to the Center for Women's Business Research, National Women's Business Council and Women Impacting Public Policy.
