400 POWs to be recognized with medals in Maine
(NECN) - Maine’s Governor thanked some prisoners of war in South Portland, Maine Wednesday. Maine has the highest proportion of veterans of any state in the union. NECN’s Amy Sinclair has more. Script: They are veterans of three wars, World War Two, Korea and Vietnam, but the men being recognized at this South Portland ceremony all share a common bond . Raymond Reitze of Buxton, Maine was 20 when he enlisted in the Army. He was captured in 1943 by the Germans in north Africa, ending up in a slave labor camp in Poland. read more
