2010 Galway Downs International Three-Day Event: Show Jumping

Everything fell into place for Jennie Brannigan and Cambalda this week at the Galway Downs International Three-Day event. It was an historic and emotional victory for the 23-year-old San Diego native. Not only did she return to Temecula to win where she grew up, she took her victory gallop wearing the Cooper Memorial Cooler, an award sponsored by herself and Dr. Bogenrief of Estrella Equine Hospital, to memorialize her beloved three-star partner who passed away late last year. While Tamra Smith was enjoying a great weekend standing in second place aboard Kristi Nunnink's Corner Street, the gelding came up unsound this morning and wasn't able to jog. Brannigan's Long-time friend Alexandra Slusher, who took Smith's place in the second position, jumped clean to finish just behind Brannigan by less than a rail. She also won the CCI2* division aboard Juicy Couture. Ascending from eighth place to finish in third, James Alliston presented a lovely round in the stadium aboard India McEvoy's Jumbo's Jake to finish in third place. In the SmartPak Equine USEA Classic Series divisions, Katherine Grosebeck took her victory gallop aboard Oz The Tin Man, while ponying Oz Proof Of Purchase along with the red ribbon. While event organizer Robert Kellerhouse received much praise for a successful event, his wife, Erin, shared some of the limelight as she won division A of the Training Three-Day aboard Roxabelle. In division B, 16-year-old Sierra Mathias finished on her dressage score to secure victory.
