20% Renewable Energy by 2020

On Wednesday 23 January 2008, the European Commission proposed a number of measures making up the EU's new energy and climate package. The aim is to fight climate change more effectively while boosting Europe's energy security and competitiveness. This includes the obligation of obtaining 20% of its energy from renewable sources.
